What is salvation?

Salvation is the deliverance or redemption from sin and it’s consequences. Salvation can be view in three tenses.

First we are saved from the penalty of sin once we believe in Jesus Christ, second we are saved from the power of sin through a process called sanctification then finally we will be saved from the presence of sin during the glorification of our bodies.

What is the meaning of the name Jesus Christ?

The name Jesus is translated from the Hebrew word Yeshua which means to deliver or to rescue. The name Christ was not really a name according to the Greek. The word is christos which was translated to Hebrew word meshiah ( Messiah) meaning the anointed one.

God’s justice demanded that man should pay for his own sin as it is man who sinned in the Garden of Eden. Although God allowed the blood of animals to be offered as a sacrifices on behalf of man but unfortunately the blood of animals was only to cover the sins of man.

For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.( Hebrews 10:4)

In fact the continuous offering of the blood of animals according to the law of Moses was a reminder of sins to the nation of Israel. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year.( Hebrews 10:3)

Why should one desire salvation?

Suppose you are in the middle of the ocean with your vessel and you notice from a far someone shouting and caring his hand in need of help because he is drowning, would you save the man or ask him questions why he needs salvation?

That is how the world is today. Those who have not believed in Jesus Christ are drowning in the sea of sin heading for destruction in the lake of fire. They are already condemned because they haven’t believed in the Savoir who is Jesus Christ.

He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.( John 3:18).

Now when one believes in Jesus Christ and gets saved he is delivered from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,( Colossians 1:13).

He is no longer condemned as he has passed from darkness to the light.

Salvation is just the starting point of great blessings to those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ.

But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner.( Hebrews 6:9).

For one to fully enjoy their salvation they should choose to walk in faith. Just as they received Jesus Christ and got saved they should always walk by faith.

Faith in God's word and His promises is the only key to enjoy as victorious Christian life. Faith comes through hearing God’s word and therefore we should be rooted in His word so as to be strong in faith.

We should realize that our lives are going under a process called sanctification as Christ through His word is continually sanctifying us and cleansing us through His word until we bear the image of Jesus Christ. All this should be done with Thanksgiving in our hearts.

Finally as we grow into the image of Jesus Christ we will be submissive to His will and easily offer our lives as a living sacrifice to be used of Him and therefore we would have discovered His will in our lives.
